All of Greystones’ most sophisticated and stylish people – and quite a few chancers too – turned out for the official launch of the Kilkenny Shop last night.
Of course, the free nibbles and the free glass of champers had nothing to do with Greystonians turning up in their droves.
They were there for the quality kitchenware, and scented candles, and Victorian Christmas decorations. Oh, yes.
Now that we’ve discovered that the three people who swore to us that Avoca were coming to Caviston’s old premises were talking fairly and squarely out of their Kilmacanogues, we have to comfort ourselves with the fact that Kilkenny cover quite a bit of the same perfectly-landscaped ground.
And it’s not like we’re short on coffee shops around here.
Certainly the smiling, happy, slightly sloshed people soaking up the Kilkenny hospitality last night were very, very welcoming to our new neighbours.
New-best-friends-in-the-whole-world welcoming, in fact. And then the free booze ran out…
