DAG:T was set up in August 2013 to look at all issues around Disabled people and ill people becoming a real part of Greystones Community. ‘Inclusion’ is what DAG:T is aiming for. Our first activity was in looking at how wheelchair users can access Greystones, at first whether roads and streets were safe and how shops and amenities could be better accessed. Mayor Stephen Stokes did a trip around Greystones with three wheelchair users to see some of the difficulties. He is going to raise these within the council in coming meetings. We are presently trying to find out how many disabled people (children & adults) live in Greystones. DAG:T also hopes to be the sort of group that helps to develop inclusion in all sporting and recreational activities within Greystones. It also hopes to determine whether those with disabilities or are ill or elderly are coping in times of Austerity through research being undertaken ‘Living & Coping will in Co Wicklow’. more information is available from Margaret Kennedy magsken57@gmail.com information about meetings are posted on greystones guide as well as on the facebook greystones open forum. everyone is invited to become involved in DAG:T
