The first thing you notice when stepping into Select Interiors on Hillside Road is the amount of laughter.
Then again, the award-winning window display that greets you first is a pretty strong indication as to what goes on inside.
Beside fine interior design, of course.
Having just won the Best Window Display at this year’s St Patrick’s Day Parade, Sandra Carroll at Select Interiors is in a particularly mischievous mood today.
Hard to believe, talking to the woman, that Sandra’s just two years short of celebrating 40 years of making Greystones homes look good. That would mean Sandra started her interior design business when she was, what, 11, 12…?
As much as her impeccable taste is on display for all to see inside her popular shop, Sandra’s mischievous and creative nature is there for all to see outside the shop too.
Each season, you can be sure that Select Interiors are going to rise to the occasion. And when there isn’t a season, there’s always the particularly Irish form of shenanigans going on in the Dáil to celebrate.
And that’s when Sandra unleashes that wicked and biting sense of humour of hers – and suddenly, Mrs Doyle is nursing a poor, sick Simon Harris in his bed, and Enda is making eyes at Trump and offering to build a wall around Donald’s Doonbeg golf course.
We caught up with Sandra this afternoon, to congratulate her on that Paddy’s Day win, and to find out just how satin came to be mixed with satire…
