It’s a sunny new day for Greystones United Soccer Club, having just released a statement outlining their decision to amalgamate with Greystones AFC Football Club.
Here’s is the Club announcement from GUFC chairman John O’Neill…
It is with great pleasure the board wish to advise our members that after a number of months negotiation we propose to amalgamate the club with Greystones AFC Football club. The amalgamation is subject to all criteria required by GUFC being satisfied.
Afc have played football at the arch field since 1924 and play at a high level in the Leinster Senior League. As they now only have one team a great pitch and club house, it is the belief of both boards football in greystones will be best served by amalgamating our clubs and facilities.
The new club will be run with our current board with three senior members from AFC coming to the club to help and advise on senior football.
This merger will give GUFC access to another pitch which is imperative to the future development of GUFC and football for our children and future generations.
