Big Match this week was the U13 Championship Clash of our 2 Under 13 teams, meeting at the Quarter-final stage. This fixture was something new for us! The A team eventually made their way to the Championship semi-final but not before they were pushed all the way by the B team! The As were ahead by 2-1 at half-time and pulled away towards the end. This was a great display especially from the B team who were playing their first match on the big pitch and using full Camogie rules. They adapted very well indeed! Playing for the As were: Sarah Mohan, Emma Davis, Sinead Conway, Rachel Crimes, Holly Campbell Fogarty, Ciara Kelly, Megan Byrne, Lorna Bates, Bronagh Byrne and Ellen Reidy. Playing for the Bs were: Eimear Douglas, Sara Davis, Amy Byrne, Caitlin O Toole, Aine Molloy, Chloe Longmore, Holly Bates, Lucy McCabe, Catherine Kennedy, Lucy Lou Rooney, Ciara Treacy Keating and Grace Bruton. The Bs now go on to play in the B Cup. Well Done everybody! Well Done also to the many parents and supporters who came to cheer you all on – more difficult for some than others – as they had players on both teams! It was a great occasion added to by Referee Aisling McCabe who kept the show on the road! Well Done to everybody involved. The Bs play in the next round of the B Cup on August 10th and the As play in the Championship semi-final on August 24th.

Meanwhile the Under 14s lost out in the first round of their Championship last Monday. They played very well,  considering they had a few new players starting out as many people are on holidays. Well Done girls! You can be very proud of your performance and to Sara and Bronagh who were playing their first U14 Wicklow match – you did really well! The B Cup awaits this team with a fixture on August 20th.

The County team bowed out of the All-Ireland Junior B Championship in Bagenalstown on Sunday. What started in the depths of Winter as a genuine All-Ireland campaign, with Wicklow having a very realistic chance of winning an All – Ireland title, fell off the rails at some point along the way. Kilcoole Camogie Club is very proud of the positive contribution made by all our players involved and we salute your efforts – Captain Nicky Keddy, Roisin Mulford, Frances Kearns, Celina O Toole, Niamh Donnelly, Caressa O Toola and Emily Jennings as well as Naomi Burke and Aisling McCabe who stepped in to help when called upon.

Playing for your County in Camogie is one of the highest honours you can aspire to. Unfortunately not all Camogie players in Wicklow realise this – a great personal loss for them as well as others who wish to promote the name of Wicklow Camogie at inter-county level. Its over now, so onwards and upwards for next season….

Training continues on Tuesdays in Colaiste Chraobh Abhann for all.  For more information: www.kilcoolecamogie.com and secretary.kilcoole.wicklow.camogie@gaa.ie
