Legal Challenge To Stop Ireland Arming Israel

Last week, after months of research, and gathering evidence as well as witnesses, our groundbreaking Gaza Legal Case was officially lodged in the High Court.

We’ve teamed up with the investigative journalists at The Ditch and Irish-Palestinian surgeon Dr Ahmed El Mokhallalati. Together, we’re demanding that the Irish Government immediately stop all weapons, ammunition, and parts for F-35 fighter jets going from Ireland to the Israeli army.

This case is being taken on behalf of the entire Uplift community and people all around Ireland who have been marching, protesting, and doing everything they can to stop the genocide in Gaza. This is not just about the Uplift team, the Ditch or a team of lawyers. This is the people’s case.

The Government shouldn’t have to be taken to court to stop facilitating genocide, but here we are. Now we need the entire country to be talking about the case and putting pressure on their local TDs so the Government does the right thing and stops facilitating Israel’s genocide.

Frankly, it’s outrageous that people from all over the country have had to come together to take their own government to court for facilitating Israel’s genocide in Gaza.

Now, our lawyers are trying to get a judge to fast-track our hearing, but court cases like this can take a bit of time so if we want to see immediate action on this then we need to force the Government to act before a judge orders them to. They don’t like being accused of facilitating genocide and they definitely don’t want people hearing they’re being taken to court for it.

This all started with Uplift members chipping in for a researcher to uncover military trade links between Ireland and Israel. From there it grew into a much larger legal challenge, and it’s vital that we keep building the momentum. The people of Gaza cannot wait any longer so we must try and force the Government’s hand as quickly as possible.

They need to be asked hard questions by journalists, neighbours, and people in their communities about why they’ve been facilitating genocide.
