Hello all… late to the event but just watched Delgany guide video and so very glad you got in and filmed before the fire. The fire video left me in tears. I lived there as a child with my family the Clive’s and would say my fondest childhood memories are of there. I would be happy to be in touch with folks to hear those stories of the old place… I have a spectral one!
Hi Paul so sad to hear style Bawn is no longer there as I spent many happy years there as a child my grandparents worked there and lived in the cottage my mother also worked there my mother was very upset to see the house in ruins my mam told us stories about the house been haunted when we were young as she did with shay I have photos taken down by the river on my communion day shay was there too with his mop of black curls on his head great times great memories
Shay,
I have been reading everything I can find about Style Bawn House since my brother, Tim Goodbody, told me about the fire. I lived at Style Bawn from the age of 9 until I married aged 24 in 1963. We have several stories of strange happenings from our time there. But I am very interested in the picture you posted of the old ladder against the wall. What made you show that?
After the fire it is on the steps below, amongst the debris.

Hi Victoria,
Paul from the Guide here – good to hear from you.
We included the ladder just to show that the house was being accessed still – something reiterated by the graffiti inside the building. We didn’t want to go any further than that, but, the fact that Style Bawn House had been reduced to a hang-out spot for latenight drinking just seemed like a particularly sad end…
Cheers,
Paul
