From the very start, the Tesco Greystones strikers have pointed out the simple fact that, whilst they’re picketing in the rain, sun, sleet and the regular threat of snow, the small shops nestled beside the supermarket giant need your love.
Otherwise, there’s a very strong chance that some of these long-standing shops may just go under.
The striking workers have a beef with Tesco. That shouldn’t stop hungry Greystonians getting their beef from Des Doyle.
From Cards’n’Things right down to Unique Cleaners, and all points in between, these are small businesses who have found their shops practically empty since the strike began on Friday, February 17th.
As is so often the case in nasty disputes, the collateral damage can be lethal. We caught up with two of the innocent bystanders in this fight for workers’ rights, Des and Mick, to put the call-out for the town’s much-needed support…
