Ah, the power of the media…
Just as the Greystones Open Forum can reunite a kid with his precious Pokemon card collection, so too can good old TV help the law get their man.
Wanted by the English authorities on manslaughter charges, following a fatal attack on a man at a Salvation Army hostel in London, 63-year-old Oliver Hurley obviously felt an appearance on RTE’s Crimecall was going to make his stay in Greystones a little bit tricky to enjoy.
And so, he handed himself in to Greystones Garda Station.
Brought before a High Court hearing yesterday, Mr Hurley is currently being held at Cloverhill Prison in Dublin, and is expected to appear again before the High Court in the coming weeks.
The English authorities had been hunting the Greystones visitor for several weeks, and Hurley was said to be planning a cycling trip to the UK just before he handed himself in.
