The article is spot on. I’ve had to use this junction for the last week due to the roadworks. It is a ludicrous layout, forcing traffic on to the wrong side of the road to make the turn. How this will be safer for anyone is beyond me. Doesn’t surprise me tbh. looking at other layouts in the area, where we have pedestrian crossings on roundabouts and other “are they? aren’t they?” crossings with no signage in greystones.
I and many other residents are very happy about this. The new junction and footpaths will be fine when complete. It will be far better for pedestrians and will make all that through traffic slow down to a more appropriate speed. A much bigger issue is the lazy and selfish visitors to the Pigeon House/Delgany who park illegally on the footpath on Bellevue Hill and force pedestrians onto the road. Park on hill by all means (it helps slow cars) but park on the road not the footpath.
Guilty as charged. I will park on hill in future (but I always leave room for people to pass)
