There are so many cool things happening over in Kilcoole of late, it’s almost as though our nearest neighbours are trying to make us jealous…
Then again, when you’ve got good people like Jennifer O’Hara, those hot Thrift Shop babes, the Hare Luisne gang and Tom Fortune on your side, good things are bound to happen.
In the light of a recent Town Renewal Scheme grant of over €55,000 landing on their laps, the current construction of the town’s new state-of-the-art Little Terns playground, the Feet On The Beat campaign and their recent 1916 plaque unveiling, plus the saving of the Rocks Valley from becoming a Dargle River sludge dumping ground (more on that when we finally manage to get one of the protesting hippies to meet us), we reckoned it was a good time to have one of our video chats with young Tom.
Always ready to fight the good fight, the one little black cloud on this sunny new dawn for Kilcoole is the apparent refusal of the Wicklow County Council to recognise that a proposed new data centre for north Wicklow would be a great big economic shot in the arm for many of the towns around here.
And so it was that, heading from Nicky’s on down through the main street and around to that new playground, we started our conversation on that bizarre WCC blind spot…
