t’s the closest thing we’ve got to Rocky’s Philadelphia steps around here, and Katie Taylor is starting off her year with an emotional battle-cry.

New Mountains To Climb.
Having been the flag bearer for Ireland at the 2012 London Olympics – where the bashful boxer bagged the gold in the lightweight division – Taylor went on to win five consecutive gold medals at the Women’s World Championships, six gold medals at the European Championships and five gold medals at the European Union Championships.
A controversial 2016 Summer Olympics robbed Taylor of a shot at another medal when she lost 2-1 in the quarter finals to Finland’s Mira Potkonen. Three months later, on November 26th, 2016, Katie made her professional debut, at Wembley Arena in London, where she stopped Karina Kopsinka in three rounds. Taylor also won her next professional bout, against Viviane Obenauf, on December 10th, at Manchester Arena.
So, indeed, this is a new year for Katie Taylor. And 2017 is clearly hers for the taking…
