Beatrice Gunning was a lovely lady I got to know her a few year’s ago
I met her in a Coffee Shop in Greystones, we got talking and I have to
Say she was a lovely person to talk to, I want to say to her family and
Friends we are sorry to lose a lovely person may she rest in peace
A feisty lady. A true original. I think I’m correct in saying she was the oldest Greystones person still living in the house she had been born in, How appropriate, too, that GG should carry an item about Greystones Rowing Club at the same time; her late husband John was secretary of the rowing club in the early 1950s. A great sportsman; like my own father, Jim Hayden, who always stopped with Beatrice and John and family when he came on holidays after our parents and our Aunt Eileen , and younger family members had to move to England in 1957. May she be re-united with her beloved John now in perpetual peace.

Beatrice Gunning was much loved and will always be remembered. A stalwart supporter of activities in Greystones and a champion for their causes. Indeed, a champion for us all. She will be much missed. The whole town has many fond memories of her.
