atest press release from Wicklow County Council, issued on Monday, January 25th 2021…
Bray has been assessed as the being Clean To European Norms in the latest Irish Business Against Litter League (IBAL).
Last year Bray was tied at 19th in the league but this year the town has has risen to 7th overall.
An Tasice, who carry out the survey, commented: “Main Street, Bray Head, Bray Harbour, Sidmonton Park, Car Park Strand Road, Killarney Road, Quinsboro Road and Bray Promenade were all very much deserving of the top litter grade – not only were they very good with regard to litter but they were all very well presented and maintained.”
Cathaoirleach of Bray Municipal District, Cllr Anne Ferris, said: “We are pleased that Bray has again performed well in the litter survey. This is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the Council’s crews who are out seven days a week.”
Further improvement was noted for Bray at a time when most towns are slipping. With eight out of the ten sites surveyed getting the top litter grade, some deserve special mention e.g. Main Street (consistently a top-ranking site); Sidmonton Park (a small public park); Bray Head and the Car Park at Strand Road – these sites were not just good with regard to litter, but overall presentation and maintenances were excellent.
Bray Municipal District works with established community groups such as the Tidy Towns and Bray Coastcare and congratulations must also be made to the contribution these groups make to the town.
