There are two sides to every story, of course, and when it came to a rather expensive yacht finding itself beached on Greystones tiny railway bridge, well, luckily for you, two GG regulars, Dan Cruickshank and Peter Robbie, were at either end of the fun and games to capture the moment.
Traffic was backed up for an hour or so – with the constant roadworks of late, that’s positively breezy – before our sleepy town was back to normal. Bless. Still, whilst that yacht was perched atop that bridge, bejiggers, the excited chatter that constantly surrounded it sounded not unlike a flock of seagulls following a returning fishing trawler into Greystones harbour.
Oh, and as to why a top-of-the-range, Grade A, oven-ready yacht is being driven through Greystones early on a Wednesday morning, don’t forget, that big Cruiser Regatta – where the haves and the have-yachts will be rubbing padded shoulders – is on this Sunday…
