He was part of the big growth years for The Happy Pear in Greystones, and someone who fit right in, given that pretty-much constant smile.
So, the fact that Yuri Dubin died tragically on September 12th has come as something of a major shock for many in Greystones.
And a group of those friends have put together a gofundme page to help get Yuri’s body back to his native Belarus.
The page was put together by his old Happy Pear buddy Raj Singh, who posted the following…
Let’s all help Olga (Yuri’s wife) to bring our friend’s remains back to his home country of Belarus. This will be a big expense and it’s a simple way for us all to help Olga and his family out.
Give whatever you can, as it will all help towards the cause.
Below is an article for anyone who wasn’t sure exactly how it happened:
Turkish News (Haberler.com)
According to the breaking news, the Irish tourist who fell to the cliffs with paragliding in Fethiye, Muğla died.
Irish tourist who fell on the rocks with paragliding in Muğla’s Fethiye district lost his life. Irish Yury Vasılyevich, who made a single jump with paragliding from the 1,700 meters runway at Babadağ in Ölüdeniz Mahallesi, fell on the rocks shortly after the parachute was closed. The gendarmerie and medical teams were dispatched. The teams, which were formed with difficulty due to the steep and rocky terrain of the area, determined that Vasyevich died.
Vasılyevich’s body was taken to the morgue of Fethiye State Hospital after the examination.
How Yury Vasilyevich came to be known as Yuri Dubin at The Happy Pear was most likely the result of lazy spelling for the first name and, it would appear, his desire to get the ‘L’ out of Dublin and move to Greystones for the latter.
Having reached their original goal of €5,000 within days, Raj and co closed down the page. Only to have people still trying to donate.
So, it’s back open, right here, until Sunday evening. Safe trip, Yuri…
