atest press release from Cllr Stephen Stokes, issued on Wednesday, July 27th 2022…
Cllr. Stephen Stokes has advised that €198,000 has been secured for work on the Cliff Walk.
It is planned to move a section further inland for safety reasons.
Cllr. Stokes stated: “The Cliff Walk is an amazing trail. At the July 2022 Greystones Municipal District meeting I requested an update on the Cliff Walk progress. It is currently with the Wicklow County Council Legal Section. Negotiating land access takes time, but I believe we would all love to see the Cliff Walk fully reopened as soon as possible. As such the Greystones Municipal District agreed to write to the Legal Section, to see if further progress has been made.”
Cllr. Stephen Stokes reiterated the benefits of the Cliff Walk. He stated: “It’s a wonderful amenity between Bray and Greystones for locals and visitors alike. For local residents it’s a fantastic trail to enjoy the sea and nature. Some people just like to walk a small section, so having a partial closure is not ideal.
“Many tourists will often stop for coffee or bite to eat, which is a great boost to our local businesses. Hopefully all issues can be resolved, but we need to make sure we get it right.”
At the moment a section of the Cliff Walk is closed, with users advised to use alternative routes such as the Bray Head Loop Trail.
