Coast Guards’ Boathouse Finally Comes InOctober 24, 2018
It was a rather splendid night last night for Waseem, Fahid and the rest of the Daata gang at the Irish Curry Awards.
For, not only did they walk away with Silver for their Bray outlet, but they managed to bag the Gold for their freshly-minted Greystones restaurant.
Daata’s Bray branch won the Silver in Best Neighbourhood Restaurant, whilst Greystones – or Greystone, according to the framed award – was given the Gold for Best Newcomer.
Congrats to the entire Salem family for the double-win – and especially the man who started it all, Mohammed coming to our sun-drenched country from the rain-soaked Pakistan in 1992 for a holiday with his wife, Shamim, and then returning to open his first restaurant here in 1998.
Reckon the Salems made a damn smart move in that moment…
You can find out more about Daata’s story with our July 2017 interview with Fahid here.
