atest press release from Minister Stephen Donnelly, issued on Tuesday, May 11th 2021…
Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has welcomed the massive increase in the number of vaccines being offered at the Shoreline vaccination centre in Greystones.
The centre has been a remarkable success since it started operating just over three weeks ago.
Within the first two weeks, it was able to offer over 3,000 vaccines and this week alone it is aiming to offer 6,000 vaccines.
It is expected between 850 and 900 vaccines a day will be offered this week with that figure increasing to 950 on Saturday and Sunday depending on supply.
And the capacity of the centre is being increased from 12 to 15 booths which means as more vaccines become available its capacity is expected to increase still further.
Also the centre’s opening hours are set to increase to 12 hours a day in the near future.
This week the centre is vaccinating the remainder of the over 60s and moving onto the 55- 59 age category.Once you have registered online you will receive a confirmation date via text on your phone.
Minister Donnelly said: “I would like to congratulate the vaccination staff and the HSE for the immense work they are doing at the centre. All of the targets we have set are being met and are in most cases being exceeded.
“And the fantastic news is there is still more capacity there once we get the vaccines delivered. Despite the huge jump in vaccines being administered, we are still getting 95 per cent of the vaccines delivered into people’s arms within a matter of days which is down to the trojan work being done by the HSE.
“Right now more than one in three of our adult population have had their first dose of vaccine and in the coming weeks we will be moving on to the under 50s. It’s been an incredibly tough year but now is a real time for hope and optimism as we are starting to see the extraordinary impact of the vaccine programme.
“I would just ask that people continue to follow the public health guidelines and not to do anything to endanger the remarkable progress we have made.”
