ollowing our planning report yesterday, a press release from Paul Armstrong, chair of the Delgany Community Council…
Stylebawn House and gardens is probably one of the greatest opportunities to create a unique development linking the village centre with BlackBerry Lane and the Three Trout Stream.
To this end Delgany Community Council recently wrote to the developer seeking the restoration to their former glory of Stylebawn House and gardens. We offered both to meet and to have our Public Realm consultant made available to help shape the development of this uniquely important site. We received no reply.
So we were extremely disappointed to see a planning application proceed without any engagement with the community and frankly horrified to see an application for a 5 storey apartment block on a site that to our knowledge remains zoned at 1 house to the acre. One can only feel that this application is a Trojan Horse for further blocks were it to be approved.
The recent application to demolish Honeybrook Cottage created quite a storm with many objections submitted. I already feel that this application will create an even bigger storm and is likely to encounter strong resistance from the Delgany community.
Given the importance of the Stylebawn site to the overall village history and heritage and the nature of the proposed development, we feel sure that Wicklow County Council will be inundated with observations from the Delgany community objecting to this totally inappropriate proposal.
We sincerely hope that Wicklow County Council will do the correct thing and completely reject this application.
With this application not yet up on Wicklow Planning here, you can find out more about planning objections here.
