Ask any chubby kid, ice cream is a big part of any seaside town…
And when it comes to this particular seaside town, we’ve always had a pretty good reputation for that particular summer treat.
From Joe Sweeney’s and Spendlove’s to Pineto’s and Something Nice, there are plenty of spots around the town to grab yourself a nice, fat, overflowing, top-ruining ice cream cone.
Well, it turns out there might be one place in the town not to get your yummy ice-cream cone, after TodayFM posted a picture of what they feel is a sorry-verging-on-soggy example of the summertime favourite.
Reportedly bought in a garage in Greystones – unnamed, incidentally – the offending ice cream is, reckons the wacky Dermot & Dave, possibly Ireland’s worst 99.
The fact that it doesn’t have a flake would back that up, but, then again, they could have been trying to keep their headline short. Rather than accurate. The Reddit user who originally posted the pic could have, we feel, insisted on a flake for his 99.
Bottom line, this is just the sort of diddley-aye-potatoes nonsense that gets burped up all day long by laddish media outlets in the hope of getting some heavy online traffic.
Chances are, this average ice cream cone could have been bought anywhere in Ireland, but, hey, if you did issue forth this sad specimen, don’t be shy, fellow Greystonian. Reveal thyself.
It’s the first step on the path to healing thyself. And your garage’s reputation.
