Latest press release from Stephen Donnelly TD and Cllr Jennifer Whitmore, issued Friday March 11th 2016…
Stephen Donnelly, Social Democrats TD for Wicklow and East Carlow and Councillor Jennifer Whitmore, have called for greater clarity in the allocation of staffing for schools for the upcoming September term.
Councillor Whitmore commented: “There are currently over 50 families awaiting a decision for an additional teacher for Greystones Community National School. The school must also provide a pre- fab to accommodate the additional pupils if the allocation is made, so clarity is badly needed.”
The school, which opened its doors last September is in place to address a well-documented need in the Charlesland area. Without clarity on the number of teachers available for the upcoming term, the staff cannot offer places to parents with any certainty.
Donnelly Commented: “Finding a school place for your child is already a stressful exercise. This process is currently being made more stressful by the uncertainty which many parents are currently faced with about whether their child has secured a place.”
