It’s always the quiet ones that you have to watch, the Greystones Scribblers gang having been busy, well, scribbling away for the last nine years without ever mentioning it to the Guide.

It was only last week, when we caught up with ringleaders Mark and Louise, that we were brought up to speed.

The little feckers have only gone and put a book together, First Flight, a collection of short stories written by the five members of Greystones Scribblers, with all the profits going to MS Ireland. The only respite centre in the country, Mark is quick to point out, for people with multiple sclerosis.

The guest speaker on the night was, fittingly enough, Ava Battles, CEO of MS Ireland, whilst Simon Harris TD was the guest of honour.

Just hope he turned up. Don’t see him in the pics here.

Sitting at the table, from left to right, are Andrew Basquille, Mark Mitchell, Julia Harte, Carol Boland, Louise Wardell, Ava Battles and Mark Talbot.

Their short story collection is available from SuperValu in Greystones, Dubray Books in Bray and the Bridge Street Books in Wicklow Town, as well as directly from the publishers, Boland Press, right here.
