Press release from those groovy fecks up at Belmont Demesne – that little patch of paradise just up on Windgates Hill – issued on Thursday, August 13th 2020…
A brand new BYOB biking experience is opening its doors at Belmont Demesne, Greystones, on Tuesday, 18th August, thanks to a partnership between Belmont Demesne and Sport Ireland.
The added attraction is that all the bike trails are free to the public, making this innovative new venture accessible to everyone.
Bikers simply bring their own bikes (and helmets) then hit one of many amazing off-road cycle trails that take in some of the most breathtaking scenery County Wicklow has to offer, from stunning woodlands to spectacular views of the East Coast.
With few family biking amenities on offer in Ireland, the new Belmont Bike Trail Network is a welcome addition to this fast-growing sport. The trails are designed for all types of bikes, ages and abilities. Serious bikers can get their thrills on the more challenging woodland terrain, while families can take it at their own pace and spend some quality time together cycling the gentle loops that meander through this beautiful estate and working farm.
Bikers can hone their skills on a purpose-built Pump Track Trail, the largest of its kind in Ireland. Fatbike Adventures is also located on-site, offering a range of guided bike tours plus bike rental, sales and servicing. “Encouraging and investing in future generations of bikers is the reason we get up in the morning,” says Ian Boltt, owner of Fatbike Adventures. “We’re delighted to be working alongside the Belmont crew on this exciting new venture.”
Owned by the Brabazon Family, Belmont Demesne is also a key film location for the Irish Film Industry. Bak’d Café at Arthur’s Barn, located in the walled garden, is a replica Roman barn and one of the original sets from the film King Arthur, starring Clive Owen and Kiera Knightley.
Only 30 minutes from Dublin, and 10 minutes from the N11, the Belmont Demesne Bike Trail Network is a fantastic amenity for both the local Wicklow community, Dublin and the surrounding counties and is set to cement Wicklow’s reputation as Ireland’s key biking destination.
