The sessions aim to provide detailed information on the proposed project and development process and facilitate meaningful engagement with local communities and stakeholders.
The consultation sessions are being hosted by members of the project team across several locations in Dublin and Wicklow during the month of February:
• Greystones: February 8th, 3-8pm, Greystones Sailing Club, Co. Wicklow, A63 DX45 • Bray: February 9th, 5-8pm, Mermaid Theatre, Civic Offices, Bray, Co Wicklow, A98 N5P1 • Irishtown: February 10th, 3-8pm, Clanna Gael GAA Club, Sean Moore Park, Dublin, D04 E285 • Dun Laoghaire: February 16th, 3-8pm, National Maritime Museum, Dun Laoghaire, A96 C8X7
The study area is located approximately 12km off the coast of Dublin and Wicklow and it is envisaged that the project could generate up to 1.6 Gigawatts (GW) of clean renewable electricity, enough to power up to 1.5 million Irish homes per annum.
The proposed development will also facilitate job creation, vastly reduce our reliance on imported oil and gas, and increase our security of electricity supply while helping Ireland become carbon neutral by 2050. The project is proposing to use fixed bottom technology where the turbines sit on top of foundations installed in the seabed. Based on current project timelines it is envisaged that the project would be in commercial operation by 2030, with a lifespan of 25 to 30 years.
