Funding For New Bray To Woodenbridge Trail


Latest press release from Simon Harris TD, issued on Friday, February 21st 2020…

Wicklow Fine Gael TD, Minister Simon Harris has warmly welcomed the announcement of over €150k funding towards the development of a long distance walking trail from Bray to Woodenbridge.

Minister Harris said, “This is a welcome investment by the government in Wicklow tourism. The €150,000 of funds is towards path construction, drainage, fence and the necessary signage.

“This will enhance Wicklow Tourism and the growth of related jobs in the hospitality sector.”

The investment is a collaborative initiative between the Department of Rural and Community Development and Fáilte Ireland.

The Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme provides funding for the development of new outdoor recreational infrastructure and for the maintenance, enhancement or promotion of existing outdoor recreational infrastructure in rural areas across Ireland.

    There will be multiple entrance/exit points. Nothing compels somebody to walk the full 31 miles when they join the path.

    Providing outdoor recreational facilities that encourages people to exercise is preventative care.

    Who in their right mind wants to walk 31.3 miles? Wouldn’t he be better off buying a few hospital beds….
