ou would think after 43 years of keeping everyone’s teeth shiny and healthy, Gerry Kilfeather would have finally walked home yesterday with a little plaque.

Instead, he had to settle for a great big party, as friends and family gathered to wish the man a happy retirement.

We hear the party kicked off at tooth hurty.

Having first set up where The Hungry Monk is today, it was 23 years ago that Gerry and his wife, Patricia, moved across the road and into a house called Walcott at the end of Bow Lane. It was a family affair, as the latter also had her physio practice there until retiring a few years ago.

It was in 2017 that Kilfeather Dental became part of the Dental Care Ireland franchise, and today, it’s one of Wicklow’s longest-standing practices.

Still, it’s a sad day when your drill sergeant hands in his badge.
