We ran our first kids art competition back in 2016, and despite the fact that we got loads of entries, and it was a gansey load of fun, we, eh, haven’t run one since.
Which is unforgiveable, given just how wonderfully artistic and artistically wonderful the kids are around here.
So, thanks to that little ol’ lockdown, we thought right now might be just about the best time to bring back our Splash Of Colour competition.
Back in 2016, we chose the humble fish as the main subject, but, with everyone having to stay indoors more and more, we thought we’d let the kids’ imagination run far and wild.
For each entrant, all that matters is that it’s something that you love dearly about the world just outside your window, whether it’s the trees, the beach, the animals, your mum’s groovy bike, or your dad’s secret stash of biscuits in the garden shed.
Open to kids of all ages, the material and methods used are also wide open – from pastels to Photoshop, from watercolours to wood, it’s whatever rocks your particular little patch of the world, man.
Deadline is now May 6th, and thanks to the mighty goldfish.ie, there’s a prize too – a shiny, brand new €50 voucher for the Greystones shop or eaterie of your choice.
And with that, the deadline arrived. You can check out all 96 entries here, and discover who won the Splash Of Colour 2020 kids art competition right here.
