Three wise girls…
he rain mercifully stayed in Spain for what was perhaps Greystones’
biggest, brightest and, eh, blingiest Christmas launch party ever.
With the Plaza festive market and the library’s Christmas Jumper Swap already proving that the town was getting into the festive spirit early in the day, it seemed like everyone
turned out for Santa’s annual arrival on Saturday.
The fact that this just happens to be the actual Santa tends to up the town’s Kringle tingle somewhat.
Taking a tour from Eden Gate through Killincarrig, Blacklion and the seafront – with a special stop-off at Coolnagreina – before landing at Burnaby Park for the all-important switching on of the lights at 6.15pm, for those not cheering Santa
on his merry way as he weaved his way through Greystones there was festive entertainment in the park from the likes of The St Laurence’s School Choir, Graham Corrigan, The Unity Choir, Do Mi So and The Greystones Baton Twirlers.
And making sure the Christmas party in the park ran smoothly was MC supreme Laura Wood, who stayed up way past her bedtime for the occasion.
Also staying up way past his bedtime to capture the magic and the mayhem was the mighty John McGowan, who ended up with a staggering 461 photos from the night. Which, all laid out on a table, is pretty much a jigsaw of Greystones Christmas Lights 2023.
Well done to the Greystones Town Team and all the many volunteers and hearty souls who put this wonderful night together. Even Stephen Stokes.
Now, go celebrate Christmas 2023 property by supporting your neighbours right here.
