Having just won the patronage for the soon-come Greystones Kilcoole Community College, the KWETB gang are holding an information evening for parents in January.
Due to open in September 2020, this secondary school has already begun the Expressions Of Interest process.
The night of Thursday, January 9th will be a chance to get up close and personal with those who will run the school. So you can plead your case.
Here’s the official word…
Kildare and Wicklow Education and Training Board (KWETB) is delighted with the announcement by the Minister for Education and Skills, Mr. Joe Mc Hugh, TD, awarding the patronage of a new Post-Primary School to KWETB. Greystones Community College will serve the needs of the Kilcoole and Greystones region and it will open to receive first-year students in September 2020. KWETB welcomes the confidence shown by the communities of Kilcoole and Greystones in the model of education provided by the Education and Training Board. The full text of the announcement by the Department of Education and Skills can be accessed here.
KWETB is the largest education provider in Kildare and Wicklow, employing over 2,500 staff and catering to over 25,000 students per annum across all levels of education. KWETB is currently the patron of 22 post-primary schools. Together with Greystones Community College, KWETB is also establishing a new gaelcholáiste (Gaelcholáiste Mhaigh Nuad) in Maynooth, Co. Kildare in September 2020.
Greystones Community College will be a multidenominational, co–educational, inclusive school that will deliver a high-quality education for up to 800 students. The school will open in temporary accommodation ready for the academic year 2020 and enrolments for first-year students will begin in January 2020. KWETB has commenced the recruitment process for the Principal of the new college. This role will be a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to establish a new school on a greenfield site in Greystones. KWETB is anticipating significant interest in the post and interviews will take place in late January 2020.
Applications for the position of Principal at Greystones Community College are now being accepted. The closing date for receipt of Principal applications is the 15th January 2020 and full details can be viewed here.
KWETB is aware that parents in the area are anxious about school placements for their children. KWETB will be hosting an information evening for parents who are considering enrolling their child in the school on the 9th January at 8pm in Greystones Rugby Club. If you would like additional information, please contact KWETB at infoGCC@kwetb.ie.
If parents wish to express an interest in a school place for their child, they may do so online. A link to the Expression of Interest Form can also be accessed at www.kwetb.ie.
KWETB will provide the new school with a range of professional supports in the areas of Educational Leadership, Human Resources, Finance, Administrative, Capital Works, Information and Communications Technologies, and Corporate Governance. Importantly, the new community college will join an established network KWETB post-primary schools providing educational opportunities to the highest standards.
Got all that? The information evening is on Thursday, January 9th, 8pm at the Greystones Rugby Club.
