Harris & Hillary Celebrate Barrettstown’s 25thJune 27, 2019
Hard to keep up with all the goodies going on down at Greystones library, but, the good news is, there’s something for just about everyone over the coming weeks.
And this is all on top of the annual Summer Stars reading challenge for kids, of course.
On Tuesday, July 30th, children’s author Alan Nolan (Conor’s Caveman, Fintan’s Fifteen, etc) will be visiting Greystones to share his joy of books. Especially his own. You can go dippy about dogs, nutty for narwhales and crackers for koalas from 3pm to 4pm.
Kicking off a run of three very fine Wednesday afternoon treats, Beginning Birdwatching on August 7th sees author, speaker and, yep, birdwatcher Declan Murphy introducing the joys of spotting our feathered friends. You can join in the family fun from 11am to 12pm.
On Wednesday, August 14th, there’s a Drum Workshop, with 5-to-8-year-olds at 2pm to 2.50pm and 9-to-12-year-old at 3pm to 3.50pm. Remembered to bring earplugs. Or a deaf uncle.
Rounding out the August Wednesday goodies there’s a Marine Touch Pool coming to town on the 21st, with half-hour sessions from 10am to noon available. Once, of course, you book.
Which goes for all these free events at Greystones Library – contact details below.
Also in August, on Thursday 22nd, at 7pm, the Greystones Archaelogical & Historical Society will be presenting their talk John Turpin: History Of The RHA, Turpin being a former Professor Of Art History and Director of the NCAD, as well as the author of the highly-acclaimed History Of The Royal Hibernian Academy of Arts (Lilliput Press, 2018).
Running throughout the month is the new exhibition celebrating important ladies from Bray and Greystones, entitled Our Wicklow Women, with those featured including trailblazer Averil Deverell and Maírín Cregan Ryan. Just in case you wanted a taste of local girl power.
You can find out more about the Greystones Library right here, and book those seats on 012873548 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
