t’s got a long and proud history in the town, and after a few crappy years, the Greytones Rowing Club was
gunning for glory at this year’s regatta.
Having returned after a two-year absence on Saturday, this was an important day for our boys and girls.
And others.
Naturally, being Ireland at the height of summer, it also started out as a very, very wet day.Â
There was some sunshine for the Greystones gang though, with Rachel Sweeney, Lauren Keogh, Carolann McDonald and Olivia Mackey getting 2nd place in the Inter Ladies, Shane Mulford, Paddy Byrne, Conor Cornwall and Shane O’Neill bagging 3rd place in the Inter Men and Aleesha Archer, Hannah Clancy, Ella Mackey and Leah Clancy winning the U18 Girls.
Noice.
There for the entire day, despite that early rain, was the bould John Hickey, taking over 200 shots of what turned out to be an undeniably thrilling and surprisingly dry regatta. You can catch his full gallery in hi-res right here.
You can check out the town’s previous regattas here, and explore the history of the Greystones Rowing Club here. If you want to find out more, you can always call Paddy Byrne on 0852242792.
