Hoping to raise funds through all the traditional routes, young Luke O’Sullivan has been busy bag-packing and can shaking all over Greystones over the last two weeks.
And it’s all for a very good cause.
A third-year Sport Management and Exercise Science student at UCD, Luke is heading to India on June 10th – flying into Hyperabad before a 7-hour bus ride to Vijawada – as part of a group of volunteers to help children disadvantaged by poverty, disability and abuse. Luke and his fellow UCD do-gooders will be working in a Care And Share orphanage, teaching kids from the ages of 4 to 9, before setting up sport projects and activities whilst, in the evenings and at weekends, offering physiotherapy assistance for the children.
As you can imagine, packing bags and shaking tins is rarely enough to scrape together the money needed for such a charitable trip, so, if you can, please throw Luke some moolah through his donation page. Which is right here.
You’ll feel better the second you do. And, you know, you’re actually helping someone 4,969 miles away.
