t’s that time of year again, when the sun splits the sky, and our kids face into months and months of having no particular place to go.

To go with all the months and months of lockdown, which officially left them with no particular place to go.

So, if you want to make sure that this summertime your living is easy, check out our extensive round-up of groovy summer camps hitting town over the coming months.

If your kid likes the numbers game, but also numbers and games, hey, the Mathletics Summer Camp will be right up their algebra. Aimed at 6-to-12-year-olds, and running from 10am to 2pm daily, the Mathletics 4 Schools Summer Camps take place at the Greystones Éire Óg GAA Club from August 16th to 20th, Bray’s Wolftone Sports Hall from July 5th to 9th, the 12th to the 16th and August 9th to the 13th ; the Rathnew Soccer Club from July 5th to 9th and 12th to 16th, plus August 9th to 13th and 16th to 20th, and the Arklow Rocks Parnell GAA Club from July 19th to 23rd. Happening in July and August, the Modern Legacy Football Summer Camps will have your kid upping their game. And achieving their goals. And whatever other football metaphor you’re having yourself.

From July 5th to 9th and from August 2nd to 6th, the camps are in St Anthony’s. From July 19th to 23rd and August 16th to 20th, these Monday-to-Friday camps are in Bray’s Wolfe Tone. The cost for these 5-day camps with a UEFA qualified professional coach and, hey, actual professional footballer is just €65. SEK Dublin up on Windgates Hill are offering a variety of summer courses for all tastes, including a high performance Soccer Academy, an Anyone4Science course, drama and theatre, art, or chance to learn Spanish. Kids can choose between a month-long course, from June 28th to July 24th, or a fortnight, either June 28th to July 10th or July 12th to the 24th. Details here.

Following on from the success of their after school programmes and primary school projects, Createschool is running BrickFlicks (Stop Motion Animation with LEGO) Summer Camps as a hybrid model online course, with a daily live Zoom session and then plenty of offline activities. And the €120 fee includes an exclusive Lego stop motion kit (packed with everything you need) delivered to your door! A 5-day course suitable for 8yrs+, with small classes, you choose between July 12th-16th or July 19th-23rd. Full details here.

The Good Food School’s Summer Cooking Camp takes place from Monday July 19th to Friday the 23rd, 11am to 1pm daily, and is aimed at children from 8 to 11. Deirdre Doyle will be revealing ways to make the most of fresh vegetables, and how to make preparing a hearty, healthy meal fun. You can find out more here. And if getting together in Kilpedder doesn’t suit, there’s always online, with a teen summer camp starting on June 21st, plus two regular cooking summer camps from July 5th to 9th and July 12th to 16th.

And talking of yum-yum, Ciara’s Kitchen have two summer camps for budding chefs out therekids Tues 6th to Fri 9th July 10am-11.15am or 12pm–1.15pm and  teens Tues 13th to Thurs 15th July 4pm-5.30pm – alongside all their usual weekly demos. It’s just €50 for the week, with recordings available for those who need to check that recipe just one more time.
