Following the board of Greystones Community National School halving the numberof places available for the new year – given the persistent failure of the Department Of Education to deliver new Portakabins in time – Simon Harris TD has called an emergency meeting with parents.
Taking place at The Beach House on Monday, November 27th at 7pm, Harris has stated that remedying the school’s lack of classrooms is “an absolute priority” for the Fine Gael TD.
The tricky part is, even though the Department Of Education have assured the Greystones Community National School that, hey, this year they’ll definitely deliver the Portakabins on time, the board would like such an assurance in writing before they commit.
Given that, for three years in a row now, the Department Of Education has failed to deliver the much-needed Portakabins on time.
For whatever reason, the Department don’t want to put the assurance in writing. Which seems mildly ludicrous.
Then again, deep down, perhaps they’re just not entirely sure they will have that extra accommodation in place in time. For the fourth year in a row.
