Everything was looking ship-shape down at the harbour today, as the new Greystones Sailing Club had its official launch.
And there to smash the champagne against its bow was local-boy-done-good, Simon Harris TD.
After a quick photo-shoot in the dreary rain outside, everyone piled in to join the revellers inside, who were merrily knocking back the free booze and, of course, the top-of-the-range nibbles.
Commodore David Nixon thanked everyone for their hard work in getting from there to here, whilst second-in-command Darragh Cafferkey was on hand with the original bill for that very first 1968 sailing club. Which came in a at whopping great £2,000.
Some of Greystones’ brightest and breeziest were there, along with a handful of gurriers (you know who you are). Oh, and the coolest ginger kid in the world showed up too. Which was nice.
We managed to catch Simon’s speech and the cutting of the ribbon before heading off to the Big Swim up the road…
There are more pics from the big day below too…
