Retirement Should Be At 65 – WhitmoreJanuary 29, 2020
Way back when, it was known as The Garden, but, sadly, this flowerly free-for-all at the back of Shoreline on Mill Road fell foul of neglect and weeds.
But, hey, where there’s a weed, there’s a wedelia, and a bunch of local green-fingered fecks have thankfully decided to resurrect this proud tradition as The Greystones Kilcoole Community Garden.
Working under the slogan Building Community Through Gardening, the elected committee of Adam Calihman, Emer P (think she might be a rapper), Matteo Ferrari (really hope he’s a mechanic), George Edgeworth and former Bond girl Lena Staniszewska have even issued a mission statement.
And it goes very much like this…
To operate a sustainable community allotment garden through memberships and community events and education. Provide a community resource on sustainable gardening, healthy eating, and biodiversity.
Regarded the garden as ‘a precious gift to the community‘, the goal, the famous five state, is to ‘make sure it is well utilised as a place to live more sustainable lives, share wisdom and food, and make connections between people and nature‘.
And once they’ve cleared away Shay Clear’s purely medicinal herbs and spices, the gang will be on their way. And they want you to join them.
Due to reopen in the spring, you can find out more about The Greystones Kilcoole Community Garden here, fill out a membership form here, or get in touch directly on firstname.lastname@example.org.
