Greystones’ top live venue The Hot Spot has just launched a new arm – and it’s got a helping hand at the end of it.
Designed as, as founder Ailbhe Skay explains it, ‘a platform for local community to get involved’, by raising funds for ‘humanitarian needs and to increase awareness of social injustice via live events’, Helping Hands has already lined up Syrian Songs on Sunday October 11th, with the likes of Scott Maher, the Meakin brothers, The Kelly Brothers, The Vintage Hothouse Jazz Band and assorted guests for a day of free music and entertainment. People will merely be asked to make a donation towards helping the refugee crisis in Calais and beyond.
