Latest press release from Simon Harris TD, issued on Friday, January 17th 2020…
Minister Simon Harris TD has sought a meeting with Irish Rail regarding the implementation of the Jacob’s Engineering Report to increase DART services to Greystones.
Minister Harris said, “I recently wrote to the CEO of Irish Rail regarding the implementation of the proposals in the Jacob’s report to allocate additional diesel trains to Wicklow – the paper recommends an extra train and that most of these should have 8 passenger carriages. The National Transport Authority asked Jacobs Engineering to see whether a 20 minute service is feasible. In the Greystones Service Improvement Study undertaken by Jacobs it was concluded that this is feasible.
The 41 new passenger carriages recently sanctioned by the government will allow Irish Rail allocate additional rolling stock to Wicklow Commuter services.
“The opportunity now exists to make much need improvements to the service and I will be campaigning to ensure this is delivered.”
