It would be fair to say that Louise Gaskin was pretty darn shocked when she turned up for her first Operation Transformation trek around Greystones on Monday, January 7th.
Having put the shout-out to the town for anyone who cared to join her on this 10,000 steps a day challenge, the 51-year-old mother-of-five reckon she might just get five or six hardy souls out on a winter night.
The real number was closer to 60 hardy souls. Along with a whole bunch of happy dogs along for the late evening stroll too.
Having been chosen to take part in the hit RTE TV series that, over eight weeks, gives people the chance to get themselves into shape, for Louise Gaskin, the twice-nightly walks have proven to be as much a health benefit as a chance to catch up with some old friends and to make quite a few new ones too.
You’ll catch Louise onOperation Transformationnext Wednesday night, January 16th, on RTE1 at 9.35pm. In the meantime, we caught up with Greystones’ new fitness guru down at the South Beach this morning. After her morning swim to Holyhead.
Louise and the Operation Transformation gang meet every Monday and Wednesday, 7.30pm, at Shoreline. Alternatively, you can meet them in Joe Sweeney’s chipper at 8pm. Further info on their Facebook page here.
