he problem with Kristina Sandaraite’s Glow Bottle candles is that they look – and smell – good enough to eat.
Which, eh, a friend of ours is said you should never, ever do.
Even when you’ve had a glowing bottle or two of your own.
Having found lockdown the perfect time to try something new, it didn’t take long for Kristina to become obsessed with making the perfect candle. Not only must it fill the room with beautiful scents but the ingredients, the container, everything had to be eco-friendly. And of the highest quality.
Which may explain why Glow Bottle candles have proven such a hit with fellow Greystonians and, thanks to the interweb, people all over the world.
Just how this bright spark became a flame, hey, we thought we’d let Ms Sandaraite wax lyrical for a change…
What are Glow Bottle candles made of? We use 100% natural soy wax and a blend of fragrance and essential oils. Also we use cotton wicks and recyclable glass jars. We try to eliminate use of plastic as much as possible from the start of candle making to the packing and shipping.
All our candles are hand poured in small batches locally in Greystones, Co Wicklow. All our orders are packed on-site and dispatched via our local post office and courier network.
How is your burn time calculated? Our burn time is calculated based on the burning for the recommended 2 to 4 hours at a time. If you burn your candle for longer than 4 hours at a time your candle will burn faster, and will decrease the overall burn time of your candle. This is because the jar heats up to the hotter-than-recommended temperature, resulting in the wax melting faster. To get the most out of your burn time, we recommend not burning your candle for longer than 4 hours at a time.
Black and Clear 270ml glass candle containers are approx 45 hours burn time. Apothecary style 180ml Amber glass containers are approx 35 hours burn time. Apothecary style 500ml Amber glass containers are approx 85 hours burn time.
And sustainability? All of Glow Bottle candle jars are reusable and made from recycled glass, sourced in Ireland and further in Europe. Wherever possible, we will always reuse any packaging we have received from stock orders before buying anything new. We also offer Refill System for all our candles.
We’re very proud of what we’re already doing, but there is still plenty of work to do. If you have any suggestions how to improve Glow Bottle, please let us know.
Candle Care To prolong the life of your candle, follow these simple tips:
When lighting for the first time, burn for a minimum of 2 hours or until the wax melts across the entire surface of the jar. This prevents tunneling and creates an even burn. Do not burn your candle for longer than 4 hours at one time. This can damage the wick which may cause it to fall over, lift or result in an undesirable burn. Before each burn, trim wick to promote an even burn, steady flame and limit mushrooming of the wick.

All Glow Bottle candles are created using only 100% natural soy wax, hand-poured, paraben-free and vegan, plus, they cause no unnecessary harm to the environment. We are also passionate about recycling and want to do our bit to save the planet.
Our recycling initiative was born after many Glow Bottle customers ran out of room and uses for their empty candle jars. We introduced our recycling initiative to enable customers to return their empty, undamaged candle jars for refills. Please contact us if you would like to arrange a refill.
And finally, we have two limited edition candles – Work From Home and Feck Covid – available exclusively at The Good Life Artisan Farmer’s Market every Sunday at St Patrick’s National School in Greystones, from 12pm to 4.30pm.
