Tracks Of My Years: Tríona & Maighread Ní DhomhnaillJanuary 22, 2018
Ah, would you look at the happy little face on him…
Happy to be in Big Niall Quinn’s arms, happy to have good buddy Ronnie Whelan slapping him on the back, and happy to have somehow managed to get one past England back during Euro 88.
The man would send another jolt through the country in 1994, with a remarkable goal against Italy, of course, and there will be plenty of Greystones United players watching the Glasgow-born dynamo when he comes to town on Saturday, February 24th.
The occasion is the 30th anniversary of Euro 88, and Ray will be joined by fellow retired Republic Of Ireland heroes Ronnie Whelan, Paul McGrath, the above-mentioned Ronnie and, say the organisers, ‘many more‘.
There will be a chance to have a Meet & Greet with Ooh-Ah Paul McGrath (to give the man his full name) from 3pm to 5pm, and you can even sit down to a 3-course dinner with Ronnie, Ray and Tony, but the highlight for many locals will be seeing these footballing legends take on Greystones United AFC.
Even after all these years, there’s a very, very strong chance that Ray & co might just unleash an ass-whipping.
Whatever the score, this is one local football match that you really can’t miss. You can check out the Facebook event page here to find out more, or you can email firstname.lastname@example.org. Tickets are €10 for the match, €75 for the big din-dins at The Parkview Hotel.
