Despite Tuesday’s court ruling that McDonald’s planning permission as part of Lidl’s Blacklion complex still stands, the enormous German discount supermarket chain has told the enormous American fast food chain that it’s still not a match made in enormous corporate synergy heaven.
Which must be something of a relief, especially for Temple Carrig, who took the court action against An Bord Pleanála to grant McDonald’s planning permission right beside three schools.

I have been in touch with Lidl and their Head of Communications has confirmed that they do not intend on selling the land at Blacklion Retail Centre to McDonalds and that they remain committed to bringing a new concept store to Greystones although they have no confirmed timelines.
It is positive from Lidl and we have no reason to doubt that they will not follow through on both above, they are intentions
As I am sure some of you will have seen, the Judicial Review decision has brought No Fry Zones into the spot light again which is great.
