ith something approaching perfect timing, a bunch of Ukrainian teenagers with no particular summer job to go to have taken matters in their own hands.
And opened up an ice-cream parlor right down at the seafront.
It was actually Tiglin bigwigs Phil Thompson and Aubrey McCarthy who sourced the cabin, now sitting pretty on the side of Rise At The Cove.
Just how good their ice cream is though, has yet to be decided. And if you love it, hey, go vote for it – right here.
“This is more than just a job,” says McCarthy, “this is a sense of belonging and a great way for these young people to meet the community who welcomed them into their town.”
These young people who are fleeing a war-torn country, of course, that up until February of this year, was their happy home. A simple fact that is always in danger of being forgotten as grumbles about who gets our charity – and how much of it – rear its ugly head.
You can find the town’s latest ice cream haven right about here.
