unning since February 2018, local scribe Frances Browner hosts a writing group at Greystones Cancer Support.
Called Scriobh Arís – which, as any Gaeltacht survivor will tell you, is Irish for Scratch Your Arse – the aim of the group is to offer a clearer, easier map for the cancer journey.
And have a little fun and creativity along the way.
Over to Browner…
Cancer diagnosis and treatment can have emotional and psychological side effects. Writing can help manage those side effects. You do not have to have writing skills to benefit from writing. With Scriobh Arís, you will be safe and secure, and you can get started, find and liberate your true voice and journal your thoughts. Writers can experiment with writings as a form of healing.
So, join today. You never know where it might lead.
With cancer survivors, families and friends all welcome, the Scriobh Arís writing group will meet every Wednesday, 7.30pm, at the Greystones Cancer Support HQ on La Touche Place, barring the last Wednesday of each month – which is the monthly men’s night. So, the room would be too smelly for any kind of muse to strike.
You can find out more about the Greystones Cancer Support gang here and the Thursday Poets Parlour right here.
