Young Derek Mitchell has welcomed the recent public consultation at The Glenview Hotel on the new N11 improvement scheme.
Aiming to improve the M11/N11 from Junction 4 to , the one-day session gave the public the chance to contribute their thoughts on the upgrade.
Over to Derek…
The National Road Design Office, the Council and the consultants who have recently been appointed to redesign the M11/N11 from Bray North junction to Coynes Cross held a consultation session in the Glenview Hotel on Tuesday 11th December. They explained that although there were earlier outline studies they will do origin & destination studies and look at alternatives including rail and bus improvements.
I welcome this thorough look at East Wicklow’s transport needs as all previous studies have just looked at each transport mode separately. The solution is likely to involve improvements in all modes. It is a requirement for major EU projects to go into this level of detail. I gave them my study of rail improvements needed and also urged lanes on the N11 for Express buses.
They plan to have options available by July 2019 and expect to be ready to submit it to Bord Pleanala by Q4 2020. I have been pressing for progress for nearly a decade and at last this is solid progress.
