iven the many thousands of foreign visitors trekking to Geystones every week along that Cliff Walk, a real need has emerged to help these weary travellers overcome that sometimes crippling language barrier and really connect with the town.
And so it is that Penguin Books and the Greystones Guide have come together to issue a series of handy phrases on easy, cut-out-and-keep, pocket-sized cards.
These special cards will be available for free at the Greystones harbour entrance from The Cliff Walk, and will help holidaymakers from as far afield as India and Japan survive a day in our increasingly busy and popular town.
No more will they be unable to share with fellow globe-trotters, considerate locals or the GardaĂ their desires, hopes and, most important of all, their fears.
A separate phrase book for visitors from Bray was drawn up by the Guide, but Penguin refused to associate their brand name with a publication featuring so many swear words. And rude pictures.
