Wicklow TD, Minister Simon Harris has today announced that 7 Wicklow projects are receive significant funding in the Government’s Town and Village Renewal Scheme.
Minister Harris has confirmed that Blessington, Hollywood, Newcastle, Newtownmountkennedy, Rathdrum, Tinehely, and Wicklow will benefit from this funding:
Blessington will receive €80,000 for village enhancements Hollywood will receive €29,757 for new pathway and safety enhancement works Newcastle will receive €23,760 for the establishment of 4km walkway heritage trail and geophysical survey Newtownmountkennedy will receive €120,488 for Public Realm works Rathdrum will receive €68,000 for the installation of street lighting Tinahely will receive €76,000 for public realm improvement Wicklow will receive €120,000 for Lighting of landmark buildings in town
Making the announcement, Minister Simon Harris said, “I am delighted to announce this significant funding for Co Wicklow. The 2018 Town & Village Renewal Scheme focuses on projects which can help to enhance rural towns and villages, with a particular emphasis on stimulating economic development. The scheme is a key part of the Government’s Action Plan for Rural Development. The Government’s commitment to supporting rural Ireland is further underscored through the new €1 billion Rural Regeneration and Development Fund which was launched this year as part of project Ireland 2040. This new Fund will provide an opportunity to deliver more integrated and ambitious projects which will further support the revitalisation of our rural towns and villages in the coming years.
