Having just about rocked the nation with their Sea Of Change choir, those crazy Strip & Dip girls were back on the frontline this month for their latest splash for cash.
Having raised a staggering €502,183.02 for Aoibheann’s Pink Tie after last year’s Strip & Dip, founder Deirdre Featherstone and the gang are hoping to go one better this time out.
The Strip & Dip 2019 organisers were also hoping to beat last year’s record of 5,025 brave and cheeky girls baring all in the name of a very good cause – namely, Kicking The Shite Out Of Cancer – but, in the end, they hit close to the 2,000 mark this year. And have so far raised a magnificent €200,000.
Kicking The Shite Out Of Cancer is the name over the door of this wonderful organisation that provides support and, perhaps just as importantly, fun to those battling that bastard disease.
This year, the secret beach was somewhere in Arklow, and the meeting place was the instantly-fully-booked Arklow Bay Hotel, where breakfast was served before the dip – from 11am and 2pm – and buses taking the brazen hussies to the sunny and sandy landing strip. There was an after-party disco at the hotel for those who made it back from the beach, and, rumour has it, the joint – and the joints – are still rockin’.
