Therein Lies The HubJuly 22, 2021
e’ve been here a few times before, but it’s going to be no less annoying for many Greystonians.
The north pier is to be closed to pedestrians from this Friday, July 23rd.
The move being, according to an official Wicklow County Council statement, ‘due to ongoing, serious health and safety concerns‘.
Which is most likely the kids diving into the marina pretty darn close to – if not sometimes right in the path of – the yachts and boats coming and going.
If they simply avoided the trouble spots (such as the private pontoons), chances are, they’d be left alone.
We emailed harbour master Bernard Gallagher for a statement, but he’s off on his holiers.
We also asked Wicklow County Council if there is a proposed reopening date, and they replied, ‘The situation will be constantly monitored‘.
So, when it comes to pedestrians allowed back on the north pier, there’ ‘no determined date as yet’.
